Complete Caldwell Catalogue List

The Caldwell catalogue was created by Sir Patrick Caldwell-Moore and comprises 109 of the finest deep sky objects (DSO) in the sky, including elliptical galaxies, spiral galaxies, planetary nebulae, emission nebulae, reflection nebulae, globular clusters, and open clusters.  The Caldwell catalogue was originally published in 1995.  It includes many objects that Charles Messier did not include in the Messier catalogue.  Unlike the Messier catalogue, it also includes objects visible in the Southern Hemisphere.

All Caldwell objects are in a declination order, meaning that C1 is the northernmost object and C109 in the southernmost.  This is a great catalogue for amateur astronomers to complete and has become one of the most popular over the last decade.

The Caldwell catalogue includes 1 dark nebula, 9 nebulae, 35 galaxies, 2 supernova remnants, 18 globular clusters, 25 star clusters,  13 planetary nebulae, and 6 star clusters with nebulae.  To view Caldwell catalogue objects, start with a low power eyepiece to locate the object.  Below is a chart of all Caldwell catalogue objects, their NGC number, right ascension and declination, its apparent size, its brightness, and lastly, and its common name, where applicable.
