The Asteroid Eros - Facts, Information & Pictures

Approximately 40% of Eros' surface is flat with little or no craters to be found.  A single large impact is believed to have sent shock waves throughout Eros causing it erase the craters.  Eros'  surface is littered with a number of boulders ranging from 10 meters to 20 meters.  Astronomers believe that most of the boulders came from this same impact with a smaller body.  The temperature on Eros ranges from 100 °C to  −150 °C.  Eros, unlike Ida, has no moon.
